Trying to cheer myself up- personal stuff

Hi. Regular followers of my blog will know that I don't tend to post personal info about myself, I just tend to stick to the stamping but I've had such a terrible week this week. I'm missing my Dad so much, I'm finding it so very hard at the moment. One minute you think you're vaguely coping, the next the grief hits like this huge wave and knocks you over. I flit from being in floods of tears to being so angry I could scream, I feel rage boiling inside of me. In some pathetic attempt to cheer myself up, I got my husband to take me to the Glitter Pot yesterday. I've never been there before and I thought it was the best craft shop I've ever been to. I spent an obscene amount of money in there buying the above. Lots of different papers- Doodlebug, Cosmo Cricket, My Mind's Eye etc; Stamps- Penny Black, Hero Arts, watercolour ones; corner punch; Craftwork Cards messages; happy birthday transfers.

One Stop Craft Challenge

A bit of a change in style for me this one. This is a card for my Auntie's birthday. The One Stop Craft Challenge this week is bling. I thought instead of the usual glittery idea of bling, I'd bling it up with some pearls instead. This whole creation is pretty much Laura Ashley. The paper and chipboard embellishments are from Laura Ashley and the background underneath the lace is stamped with lilac ink with a Laura Ashley clear stamp. The lace and beading I got from a local haberdashery shop I was at with my Auntie.

Crafty stash used: Stamp (Laura Ashley); Paper (Laura Ashley); Assorted cardstock; Chipboard (Laura Ashley); Lace & beading from stash

Wow what a beautiful creation Steph. Love the papers and that bling - it is so pretty. I do hope you start to feel better soon - I think those swings of emotion are natural and something you need to go through. Sending big hugs your way. Thanks for joining the One Stop Craft Challenge.

Hi steph thank-you for leaving me a lovely comment! Hang in there! The pain and grief eventually turns into fond memories and although the hurt never fully leaves you you will have more moments of joy remembering him. My father died 16 years ago, when I was 19, it still hurts but not so bad. Take one day at a time and don't expect too much of yourself.

Hi Steph - thanks for your lovely comments on my blog.

I am so sorry you are going through a bad time at the moment.
I lost my Dad and it was the end of my world. It still hurts now nearly 18 years later but not like it used to.

You miss him because you loved him. You will never stop loving him so you won't stop missing him.

On a lighter note - I am so jealous that you get to visit the Glitter Pot.

I only manage to visit/buy via the internet.

Take care Steph.

Love Jules xx

I'm so sorry you were feeling down and I hope you're in better spirits now. Isn't it strange how we feel the need to apologize when we just want to open up about personal stuff? Why do we do that? It's good to be able to talk about things to and with others. I'm sending you wishes for peace.

P.S. I love that card you made for your aunt! I'm sure she will, too! Who wouldn't?
