Cupcake Craft Challenge 10

This week's Cupcake Craft Challenge is a great sketch by Donna (see above). I really enjoyed doing this sketch and I think it helped me get over my mini crafting-block (or maybe I should let you be the judge of that!!) Do pop over to the blog and see the other design team members' cards this week- as usual they are all fab!

So here is my interpretation of the sketch:

I used this gorgeous "Squeeze til I squeak" image which I coloured in with watercolour pencils as I wanted a softer look. I highlighted the centre of the flower with Crystal Stickles. I then mounted on pink card which I left a bit longer at the bottom so that I could tie round the brown gingham ribbon. The background paper is Artic Frog from Banana Frog and I cut an extra circle to make part of the feature in the top right hand corner. This feature was made using my nesties to make the scalloped edge, then mounting the circle of paper and finishing with 2 layered flowers and a flower gem. The gorgeous buttons I threaded with white string just to make them stand out a bit more and look a bit more exciting. The sentiment is a Papermania rub-on which I mounted on some more of the background paper.

I'm going to give this to my husband for his birthday next month which is why I chose the colours I did. I wanted it to be romantic (hence the pink) but also slightly masculine (with the brown).

Crafty stash used: Stamp (Penny Black); Watercolour pencils; Crystal Stickles; Paper (Artic Frog); Assorted cardstock; Rub-on (Papermania); Nesties; Buttons (free); String; Flowers (Lakeland); Flower gem (Joanna Sheen); Ribbon (Jo'Anns)

CRAFT ROOM UPDATE!

We got all my furniture yesterday and had a bit of a hairy journey home as it didn't all fit properly in the back of my car so we had to tie the boot down and I was a tad worried everything would slide out the back onto the road! But as usual my hubbie knew what he was doing!! He then spent about 5 hours putting it all together. He wouldn't let me come in the room til he'd done the whole thing. It looks amazing!!! I am SO over the moon with it, I can't tell you! It's an early birthday present from my hubbie so he said not to scrimp and have everything I wanted so I chose a different cabinet for my stamps which is going to be SO much better than the one I'd originally chosen which was alot smaller and a quarter of the price!!

Anyway, I'm so looking forward to arranging everything and I'm sure it's going to take a couple of weeks to get it all sorted so I'm really going to enjoy myself!! Don't worry I will be taking lots of photos!! x

Hi Steph! GREAT CARD!! I like that sketch a lot. Love your cute buttons on there too :) Can't wait to see your new craft space!! My hubby did the same for me several months ago. It's a very small room, but he put a wall-to-wall counter in and some shelves above. I LOVE it! And I still want more space, Lol. Anyway, glad you took photos to show us! ;0)
