More good news and another card!

Hi everyone! Once again, thanks to all of you who left kind messages for me re my Mum. We got the good news this week that Mum's cancer has not spread past the bowel and that they managed to remove all of it during the surgery. The consultant told us that it had affected 9 out of 15 lymph nodes but were the ones immediate to where the tumour was, the ones nearer to the body were all clear. She will start chemo in September which she'll have for 6 months. She's also been given the option to go on a clinical trial which would see her have an additional drug (which is currently only given in advanced bowel cancer) to see if this has any additional benefits for earlier stage bowel cancer and this would be for an additional 6 months. Though the chemo will obviously be rough, we are very happy this week to learn that the cancer had not spread so we are very happy bunnies! Unfortunately my Mum has had an infection from the surgery which has been a bit unpleasant so my time has been spent driving back to take her to the hospital every day to have her wound dressed- hence no craft time again!

However, I did grab the chance yesterday to make this card for one of my oldest friend's who's just had a little baby girl. The image is an Elzybells stamp (as is the sentiment). I was so sad to hear of Elizabeth closing down Elzybells as I think she is a tremendous talent. Obviously I went mad and bought a load of her stamps in her half price sale. Anyway, I coloured this image in with watercolour pencils and highlighted her with a copic pen. I paper pieced her nappy to match the pink gingham paper I had. All papers are Making Memories. The ribbon and button are from Poppicrafts. Punch is Martha Stewart.

I've entered this card into:
Simon Says Stamp Challenge- sketch
Papertake Weekly- Cute!
My Time to Craft- Check pattern

Here is a close up of my little beary friend!
Now all I've got to do is find the time to actually use all these new stamps I've bought recently- Papertrey Ink, Riley and now Elzybells....!!!
Crafty stash used: Stamps (Elzybells); Watercolour pencils; Copics; Nesties; Paper (Making Memories); Ribbon (Poppicrafts); Button (Poppicrafts)

oh my gosh Steph, Ive missed all of your trouble as I was on holiday for most of June.

I could not believe what I was reading, thank goodness your Mum has now been given such a great result. I know she will really go through the mill with all of the chemo and treatments but with you all at her side she will be fine.
History will not be repeating itself thats all you have to think.

Lets hope that the new trial drug is the wonder treatment as that will just be the cherry on the top wont it. No wonder youve not been crafting much, youve had absolutely no time nor inclination I wouldnt doubt. At least you know youve got the sanctuary that is your beautiful craft room for times when you just need to escape somewhere.

Im sorry im the last to know but Im always at the end of an email if you ever want to offload (",)

What a lovely card, that image is just so cute! And, as always, your colouring is sublime!

Hi Steph

I am just back from being away for a few days and your news regarding your Mum is such fantastic news. I am so happy for you all.

I know your Mum still has difficult times ahead of her and the time is going to go so slowly for you all.. .. but it is all going to be worth it.

What a lovely daughter you are to your Mum. I am sure she is so grateful for all your love and support.

You can always catch up with your crafting later.

Love Jules xx
